Port of Call: Nassau Bahamas
Travel Time: November 22-25, 2013
It had been almost a year since our last vacation so after many ups and downs, Terahl felt a getaway was long overdue. This time, he decided to include not only my parents, but my best friends as well. So off we were on a 22 hour car ride to Miami, Florida. We stopped briefly in Atlanta, Georgia, to pick up one other friend but for the most part it was a straight shot down from Chicago, Illinois. Upon arriving in Miami, we were all extremely tired but excited to board the cruise ship. This time, we were on the Imagination by Carnival (http://www.carnival.com/cruise-ships/carnival-imagination.aspx). Since my parents had never cruised before, we opted for a 3-night cruise. We departed from Miami and arrived in Nassau, Bahamas where we would stay overnight. Though the trip was short, we had a great time. Our activities mostly consisted of eating the non-stop food Carnival has to offer along with having fun on the beach. The beach was a short walk from the port in Nassau. While there, we did do some snorkeling which is one of Terahl’s favorite pastimes.
After laying in the sun all day, we returned to the boat just in time for our evening dinner. We enjoyed some fun nights of karaoke along with a Michael Jackson contest (which I was too shy to enter, as always). Since the ship was staying overnight, we decided to explore some of the nightlife. There were a few nice jazz bars and some music venues we were able to check out. Oddly enough though, as the time got later and later, we noticed a lot of the crew members were out with us. I guess they were looking for something fun to do as well. We laughed, danced and had a good time.
After a fun 3 nights and 4 days on the boat, it was time to return home. Instead of making the full 22 hour drive, we decided to spend a few nights in Atlanta with Camille and her family. While there, we mostly relaxed and enjoyed some time with friends. As an activity, we visited the Georgia Aquarium (https://www.georgiaaquarium.org/). The aquarium was absolutely amazing! I would highly recommend it. Seeing these animals and the power of Jehovah’s creation was truly astounding to us all.
Overall, the trip was a great ‘introductory cruise’ for my parents. We had great room service and no mishaps while on the island. Not to mention, being with my family and closest friends was the best thing I could have asked for. I’ve included photos of our cruise in addition to our photos in Atlanta.
