Ports of Call: Great Stirrup Cay, Ocho Rios, Grand Cayman Islands and Cozumel
Travel Time: November 23-December 1, 2012
My first cruise ever was on the Norwegian Pearl (http://www.ncl.com/cruise-ship/pearl). I was a little apprehensive having never been on a cruise before, however, Terahl assured me I would fall in love. He was right. I did. We departed out of the Miami cruise port. That was already a bonus in itself since we were able to spend a few days in Miami and Fort Lauderdale prior to the cruise. Upon arriving, we settled in the room and had a nice time relaxing on the balcony. The amenities on the boat were great. Some of my favorites included the indoor bowling alley along with the full size movie screen in the main atrium.
As far as the islands, some of my favorite highlights included climbing the waterfall in Ocho Rios, Jamaica and snorkeling with fish in the Grand Cayman Islands. In Cozumel we did a Mayan tour and then went by the beach. Grand Stirrup Cay was probably my least favorite. Mostly because it was the cruise line’s private island so there really wasn’t much to do but sit by the water. Although the lunch was included off the boat so that was nice.
Overall, the food on the boat was excellent and the service was great. Our waiters and waitresses remembered our names which is always a nice touch. The entertainment was great as well including karaoke and some competitive games (which we would always win and receive free drinks). Of course, a cruise is only as great as the people who cruise with you. Fortunately, we were in good company. Can’t wait to do it again!
